At approximately 6:15 am, Eastern Daylight Time, I registered an entry for the National Homebrew Competition. I desperately wanted to enter the Crapulator Doppelbock, but as it is in such limited quantities I will instead be sending in the second incarnation of The Lumberjack (AKA The Hoppy Lager). My best understanding is that the first round (regionals) will be held April 19th and 26th in either Charlotte or Raleigh, so it is quickly approaching!
This, of course, is my first major competition and I believe the Doppelbock would probably get me further, but it'll have to wait until I can brew a fresh batch later this year. Probably better to enter a mid-grade beer the first year anyhow and then wow them the second year with an epic doppelbock.
