Hop to it!

With summer in full swing here in the south, the hops have been having a wonderful time in their new home. Well, at least the Cascades are having a good time. For whatever reason, the Centennial have not grown past about 12 inches and today is the first time I've noticed any new growth on them in a month. Oh well, maybe they'll pick things up here soon. Thought I'd show y'all a photo of my hop trellis. Folks who'd like to visit in the late summer may even get to help harvest...I think that's when they flowered last year.

If you look carefully at the strings on the left, you can see the Cascades growing up about 5 feet. You cannot, however, see the Centennial on the right. Directly behind the hops is the blackberry thicket that came free with our house. Sure I had to cut out some other brush to find it, but they're delicious and it was worth it. May be some blackberry hefeweizen in the future!

  2. So, I just have to let you know that Schyler and I are kind of stupid because he saved a bottle of your Norweigan Christmas brew and I am drinking it right now. It might be over aged because there is no head anymore... Christmas was only ~7 months ago. It still tastes good though!

On another note, I want to grow hops now, too. I'll send them all to you (in a few years) because we don't brew!
